Match Report - 11 Jan 2010, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Blaze beat JWB

It was another freezing night in Baldock with a light bit of snow to complete the setting for this re arranged fixture - Previously being cancelled due, funnily enough to snow!

We started off with Regan in at GS for the first half as Lesa is still struggling with her injury and Julia is still out (most likely for the rest of the season!). Again Regan played with confidence and linked up brilliantly with Jenna, to put the Crusaders comfortably in front in the first quarter.

Caroline and Hannah didn't have too much to do in defence (luckily as Caroline's brain hadn't travelled up the A1 with her! I can say that seeing as I write these!) Dyan assisted with great defence and arms, putting pressure on the JWB attack, causing some wayward balls and break down of their play.

Nat played with great vigour as usual, reading the game well, and making some great interceptions... when she managed to stay vertical!!

Jenna as always was spot on with her shooting to pull Baldock further ahead in the 2nd quarter.

The third and fourth quarter saw Regan having to rush off to another game and Jess step in as GS - moving Caroline to WA where she managed to wake up and have a good quarter!
Jess moved in to the postion with ease and grace. She confidently moved out for some balls out the circle and positioned herself nicely within the circle to receive balls from either side of the D, which Jenna, Nat and Caroline orchestrated well.
It was however Jess' spot on accuracy that suprised her team mates the most - earning her 'girl of the match' and a certain spot in at GS more often!

One downer for the 4th quarter (damn this cold and slippery weather), Nat had a slight muscle strain and it was decided as we were so far ahead, to rest her for the final quarter.
Caroline stepped us as C - never again with 6 players!!

Hannah was encouraged by some great tips to be more agressive and got took some great balls with her renewed confidence, always an asset to have filling in for us.

Baldock maintained a strong, if not slightly messy, last quarter - to show the confident and classy team they have become.

A compelling win for the girls and well deserved!

Look forward to Wednesday's clash - though looks like another cold one!!!

Thanks as always to Coach/manager/Grim Reaper Julia, supporters Bev, Penny and Chris (when he could face getting out the car into the cold!)

Thanks to our (slightly dodgy) umpire Becky too! Only joking ;) you were fab and must have been freeeezing!!
