Match Report - 12 Sep 2015, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Blaze beat SAS
A great start to the season. Reds have started out in Division 4 of the Herts league - with the full intention of climbing up the Divisions as we did in the Bedford League,
The first quarter saw our exciting partnership of Bridget and Sharon in defence. We welcome Sharon back after her maternity break - having successfully added a beautiful girl Lilian, to our future Crusaders!
They showed intent from the start, giving us turnover from the outset. Supported by Jane in at Wing defence and Jess in at Centre, the attack had a lot to live up to.
But live up to it they did! Julia re bounded some great shots and Jenna fed in some delights! We went in after the first quarter 7-15 in our favour.
A strong 2nd quarter saw Julia finding her rhythm and Jenna making some great runs in. SAS put the double in on Julia which gave Jenna her favourite long range option!
Coach Ben arrived to see enough and look to mix it up to challenging SAS to find a plan B.
This saw Caroline move to centre, Jess to WA and Daisy in at GA.
The combination worked really well and Daisy used some great one twos to sink some confident shots.
Intercepts were coming in all over the court with some great defence continuously giving us turn over!
We went into the last quarter with an aim of reaching 60 as the win was secure. Julia came off,, Daisy went to GS and Jenna to WA. We have been training indoors to prepare and we felt our fitness was improving, however the last quarter proved a real struggle, drawing it 3 goals all! The desire of 60 goals was not to be reached but a convincing win all the same. Lots to mull over in training :)
