Baldocks oldest juniors took on Roystons juniors on Tuesday 18th March at Avenue Park in Baldock. The Baldock team consisted of Rosie, Lia, Hannah R, Gurleena, Freya, Hannah L, Lucinda, Dara, Lucy and Pippa.
The first quarter saw Royston come out very strong with some good passing and shooting which made the Baldock girls step up their game. Some very good dodges by Gurleena at wing attack made it easier for Baldock to bring the ball up the court and some very good defending by Hannah L at wing defence ensured that Royston struggled to get the ball into the circle. Freya in at centre provided some very strong passing to get the ball down the court.
The second quarter Baldock stepped up the pace and some great defending by Lucy and Lucinda in the circle proved to put Royston off. Again Freya developing very strong in the centre court to get the ball into the Baldock shooting circle to Rosie to score some very impressive goals.
The third quarter again saw some very good defending by Dara and Lucinda in at goal keeper and goal defence, working well together to slow the Royston goals down. They worked very hard together defending the shot and some good partnership skills developed between the two of them. There was some great attacking down the court in this quarter, especially Lia in at goal attack, who fed the ball to Hannah R perfectly for some brilliant goals. Everyone really stepped up their game and a few more goals were scored.
The last quarter saw a change in some positions with Pippa coming in at centre. She did a good job in supporting the attack, allowing Baldock to score a few more goals. The defenders were in fantastic positions to mark the Royston shooters out of the circle which made sure the opposing team were unable to score as many goals.
Overall a very good game played by both teams Baldock played some very good netball and it would be nice to see some of them at the senior matches to watch and observe the game.
Hope to see some of these skills shown at trials in June, who knows we may well could have some new senior players J
