Match Report - 08 Nov 2011, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Blaze lost to Kestrels

What can I say?!

The team once again really had to pull together. With no shooters from the Red squad available, we were really lucky that George Knighton was available at GS.

I (Caroline) had to play GA again. Unfortunately that was, in the end the difference between the teams. Thankfully Georgina's shooting was absoloutly spot on. However it was a real step up from the Heritage League and Kestrels defence made life very difficult for her. They caught on that I couldn't shoot and gave me all the room to work the circle, whilst pushing George futher and further out. However, in the second quarter George and myself fought back and we finished it within 2.

We wouldn't have been anywhere near this score line had the defence not have been so formidable. Jane led the defence but it was Sharon's numerous amazing interceptions that constantly pressured Kestrels. She also cleared fantastically up the court as did Jess Marley.

The third quarter saw Kestrels step up and my GA'ing take a bit of a knock. Kestrels were 'competitive' with their defending to say the least.

Nat once again had a great game in defence, turning over loads of ball.
Jess Young made sure she was always available up the court. Her and Nat had to work hard, constantly playing it around waiting for us to get into position!

By the last quarter we were really struggling but George managed to sink a few shots to keep us within 5. This gives us extra points in the league!

Its a tough ask to win a Bedford game with no GA. The girl of the match went to George Knighton who really was fantastic. Great to see a player from the Whites come through to play for the Reds and do such a great job!

Well done everyone for a valliant effort - please send Harriet lots of get well wishes!!!!
