Match Report - 24 Jan 2012, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Braves beat Team Crystal
Team: Amy Witt, Chelsea Gardner, Shelly Pye, Jen Cross, Jess Crowther, Jess Farmer, Claire Anderson.
Back to winning ways in the Cup! We were confident that this would be our game if we played well but didn’t want to be complacent. We were all up for it and it was an eventful game due to some questionable umpiring which provided some comedy moments and unfortunately we had an injury.
We started well and didn’t give Team Crystal much chance to get into the game. The defence were working well to turnover their centres and in the D and the ball was working really well up the court and into our D – we had our range feeding the shooters who had a great game. Our concentration lapsed a little in the 2nd quarter but we picked up the pace again and took the quarter. An injury to Chelsea meant that we played most of the 3rd quarter with 6 players but we still managed to apply the pressure and came away with the quarter. Chelsea was able to come back on in the 4th at GS which was brave seeing as the GK was a close marker to say the least (although I was glad as I was getting knackered playing a quarter without a WA, although it did provide some comedy watching their WD and C argue as to who should be marking me and neither actually bothering to ;o) ) and we finished off the game as deserved winners with 8 vital points! An excellent team performance and we’re looking forward to the next game.
