Match Report - 20 Feb 2012, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Braves beat Bluebells
Mon Feb 20th: Baldock Blues 45 – 33 Bluebelles (league game)
Team: Amy Witt, Chelsea Gardner, Shelly Pye, Jen Cross, Jess Bond, Jess Farmer, Claire Anderson.
Top of the league clash for Blues...
After a couple of weeks off due to weather and half term we were all raring to go for this one, especially as we knew we’d have to play well against the team currently at the top of the league table! We made a good start as did the opposition and it was clear from the beginning that this would be a tight game requiring us to keep our discipline and stick to our game. There wasn’t much between the 2 teams in the first half with both teams playing some great netball, however, the Blues were always 1 or 2 goals ahead.
The 3rd quarter, however, we seemed to step up our game to another level and pulled away. We could feel that we were really gelling throughout the match and everyone was working really hard to turnover their possession and move the ball effectively up the court into the D. We maintained our lead in the final quarter and came away deserving winners.
Every player gave 110%, the shooters (Amy and Chelsea) were outstanding, long or short it didn’t matter the ball was going in. Shelly and I had the measure of our players and managed to find the space to work the ball through the court and found the range to feed the ball into the D consistently and accurately. Jess Bond was working hard turning over the ball from their WA and supporting in the centre third and Jess Farmer and Claire were working tirelessly in the D to prevent the opposition shooters from getting the space and shots that they wanted and getting some good rebounds. Overall a fantastic performance which everyone thoroughly enjoyed! Onwards and upwards as our captain, Claire very proudly put it!
