Draw overall
The first game of the season for Baldock Blacks and we held Pandas to a draw at Henlow.
The first quarter went well for us with some great goals coming from Beth and huge effort put in by Emma who took one for the team and covered for our missing shooter - we finished the quarter 4 goals to 3!
During the second quarter being a shooter down meant a mix up of the team and although more great shots came from both Sydney (also playing a different position than usual!) and Beth, it wasn’t quite enough – we ended the quarter with a loss of 5 goals to 3.
In the third quarter some great defending was displayed by Abi and Holly, with some fantastic interceptions coming from Holly! However the speed we were playing at meant we struggled to get the ball up the court, and we ended the quarter with a loss of 6 goals to 1.
We knew we had to draw or win the final quarter to draw overall and after a slightly shaky start, some brilliant interceptions from Holly and Abi in defence and Sydney as Centre led to some great passes up the court, setting up the shooters and enabling us to scrape back a draw. The quarter ended 4-4.
Overall a good game enjoyed by all; the team is now even more motivated to beat them next time!
