Match Report - 07 Nov 2011, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Blaze beat Caldecote
Well, a real shuffle about for the reds after Becky's, Julia's and Jenna's injuries the troubles continues as Harriet went down in the morning with a sick bug. This left us with no shooters.
Luckily Vicky Foster said she was free to step in as GK, freeing up Jane to go
into shooter. Caroline (myself) took one for the team and attempted GA.
It was a very shaky start in attack but the baldock defence was fantastic and
stood strong. Jess Marley led the unit fantastically. Caroline and jane managed to score a few to get things going but it was clear both were very tense!
Nat Massey was superb at C, constantly hassling and working tirelessly.
Jess supported the attack with some great Centre breaks and passing.
The first quarter saw Baldock take a small lead.
The second quarter Baldock took control. Caroline started to flow and even
managed a long range shot! The two shooters at times looked good.
The third quarter saw Caldecote make quite a few errors and the defence pounced.
Vicky took some great interceptions and re bounds.
Jo took control of her partner and also gained some great re bounds.
Jane really started to find form.
Baldock went into the last quarter about 10 goals up. Lucky really as my
shooting appeared to fall apart!!
The attack struggled to get the ball into Jane but when they did, she made no
mistake!
Luckily once again the defence stood up and really saved the day as Caldecote
threatened to make a come back.
As usual Caldecote played with dogged determination and with our current injury problems the girls were concerned. However, the girls showed real team work and strength and it was a fantastic win!
Jess Young was awarded girl of the match by Caldecote! She had a fab game :)
Jane was keen to point out that Jess Marley also had a really fantastic game and out of position she dominated and led the defence superbly.
Well done to all the girls... Let's do it all again tonight!!!
