Match Report - 11 Dec 2013, Baldock Crusaders Netball Club Baldock Crusaders Blaze lost to Red Arrows
Reds turned up on a very cold night to play Red Arrows at Bedford. Having lost by only 4 goals last time we played them, we wanted to start strong and win the game. There was some confusion over start time and we thought the match started 15 minutes earlier than the opposition, which gave us time for a good warm up and some practice.
The first quarter was tricky for everyone as we had Rachel Hampel playing, having only played a couple of times before, it took a while to get our bearings. We were down by 5 at the first quarter time and we made some changes.
The second quarter was much better. The defence were turning over the Red Arrows ball into the circle and we were on a roll with 4 goals in a row. The meant the scores were level for most of the quarter which gave us a boost.
The third quarter saw us drop off the task a bit, with a bit of laziness and a bit of tiredness, we let the Red Arrows start well to take the lead by 3 goals, this made it difficult for us to pull the score back and we finished the quarter 5 goals down.
Following a positive team talk at quarter time we went into the final quarter hoping for a good come back, but having lost our first centre pass, everyones heads dropped and we struggled for the next 15 minutes to get the ball into our attacking circle. We lost the game 59-45 overall and were all quite disappointed.
