Baldock Whites vs Ivel 9/10/17 Prem
Its a warm October evening and its the first game of the heritage winter league for Baldock Whites.
It was a strong start from Baldock with excellent defence players who worked hard to prevent Ivel converting the goals. This hard work and determination was consistently matched down the court, with both centre court players and shooters really making the opposition work for every ball. Even though this effort didn’t secure the win for this quarter, It really showed how Baldock intended to advance into the second quarter.
And advance they did, starting with a solid wall of defence from both the GK, GD and great back up from the WD! Ivel really had to fight for the ball, often having to pass back to their defenders in order for the ball to penetrate the circle and reach their shooters. The Baldock defence brilliantly stopped Ivel scoring goals, thus meaning that centre court players such as the C and the WA were able to effectively manoeuvre the ball down to Baldock’s shooting circle and stack up the goals on the score board. This therefore meant Baldock earned the much deserved win for the second quarter and leading at half time!
The start of the third quarter saw a riled up Ivel come out all guns blazing and they soon forged ahead, despite a valiant effort from Baldock they managed to retain the win for the quarter, meaning Baldock had to to win the final quarter if the final result was to be a draw. Despite Baldock reverting back to the line up they presented in the second quarter they weren’t able to stop the attacking force of Ivel who creeped ahead eventually took the win!
Even though this meant a loss for Baldock on their debut outing for the winter league, they demonstrated great skill and determination that I am sure will see them storm ahead to many future victories!
