Final score 43-21 Pandas Win
With only 6 players, Baldock Blacks managed to gain a last minute guest player so hoped to put up a strong fight to win against Pandas. The first quarter started and both teams struggled to stay calm so the play became messy and silly mistakes were made. Pandas managed to steal the lead from Baldock Blacks during the first manic 15 minutes.
After a reshuffle of positions, Baldock Blacks strengthened their attackers, helping the team to gain control and a number of goals. The passes and tactics became strong as defence secured numerous rebounds,. This resulted in in a close finish for both teams in the second quarter as Pandas were unable to maintain their solid play from the first quarter as Baldock Blacks applied strength and pressure to the game.
The positive atmosphere created from the second quarter allowed Baldock Blacks to continue to play strong. However, Pandas managed to control their play and began to score more goals. Baldock Blacks stayed positive and fought for every single pass to ensure there was only a 6 goal lead from Pandas at the end of the quarter.
Unfortunately, Baldock Blacks became relaxed as there was a potential for a win, allowing passes in the centre third to become extremely lazy and sloppy. Pandas took advantage of this and strengthened their game by securing a number of goals. A 6 lead win from Pandas soon became a 20 lead win, resulting in negativity for Baldock Blacks. This negativity meant play could not be improved and Pandas managed to win 43-21.
Baldock Blacks need to overcome any negativity caused by the potential for a win by their competitors. Regular training sessions as a team will help to overcome this ongoing problem that we face each week. Also, fitness needs to improve to ensure the team can maintain their play and fight throughout games for potential wins.
